Q. Do you have to be a Christian to benefit from keeping these laws?

A. You don’t have to be a Christian to receive the benefits of abiding in these 10 spiritual laws. The advantage of being a Christian is that ……..

…. God actually writes these laws in your own heart (Heb.8:10), so that when you submit to them, God Himself guides the choices of your heart.

…. God’s Holy Spirit helps you to keep God’s laws so you don’t have to struggle to try and do it yourself. God said it’s impossible to do it by yourself … ‘without Me, you cannot do it’ (John 15:5 & Jeremiah 10:23).

…. REPENTING of your sin, enables God to reverse the on-going curse against you, and to even put the curses on your enemies (Deut.30:7). [Repenting means sincerely apologising & coming back & obeying the law.]

…. God’s Holy Spirit helps you to properly understand the real meaning of the laws.

…. The final reward is eternal life in heaven, rather than eternal death in hell.

The fact is, a True Christian loves to keep God’s laws because they appreciate what God has done for them … ‘If

you love Me, keep My commandments’ (John 14:15).

Anyone who calls themselves a Christian, but doesn’t seek to lovingly keep His laws, is actually declared by God to be a liar, & does not have the true truth (1 John 2:4).

Q. How is it possible to keep all these laws?

A. Without God, it’s not possible, and that’s the point!! The only solution is to throw yourself at the mercy of a just and loving God. Recognise and admit that you’re a law-breaker, and cry out to be washed clean by the perfect blood of Jesus. This is the only way to avoid the penalty of hell. Once you’re in that position, God will give you His Holy Spirit. He is the LAW, because He’s the TRUTH; and that’s why God said the new covenant would have the advantage of the law written in our hearts. It’s not our job to keep the law. It’s our job to DIE so that the Holy Spirit functions through us & it’s His law that shows us what we have to die to.

‘For this is the new covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord; I will put my laws into their MIND, and write them in their HEARTS: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to Me a people.’ Heb.8:10

‘Hearken unto Me, you that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is My LAW; fear not the reproach of men, neither be afraid of their revilings.’ Isaiah 51: 7

Q. How do you become a Christian?

  1. acknowledge that you’re a sinner (Romans 3:23).
  2. acknowledge that you can never be 100% good by yourself (Eph.2:8,9).
  3. cry out to God to wash away the filth of your sin with the innocent & perfect blood of Jesus (1 John 1:7).
  4. choose to turn away from your sin and anyone that may lead you back to your sinful ways (2 Cor.6:14-18).
  5. be baptised, as a sign of unconditional surrender of your will and allegiance to the will of Jesus as the new Lord of you life and its habits (Acts 2:38).

Note: Many false Christians use Jesus as an insurance policy to heaven. The evidence of this is that they still enjoy playing with their sins. Jesus’ primary purpose is to be your Saviour, ie. He died to save you from your sins. If you come to Him for any other reason (eg. to please a boyfriend, fear of hell, a final option, a better deal in life, to be part of the club, to get fixed up) & never come to the point of sincerely repenting of your sins, you’re not a Christian. FULL STOP!!

Q. How do you stay a Christian?

A. When you become a Christian, God gives you His Holy Spirit to dwell in your body (1 Cor.6:19,20,

2 Cor.6:16), to comfort you, encourage you & sustain you. You literally become a soldier for Jesus & enter a warfare against satan and his demons. Therefore, satan’s prime objective is to snatch the seed of God’s truth away from you (Mark 4:14-20). It’s possible to lose His Spirit by letting yourself be deceived by satan’s lies and 1/2 truths, & allowing your heart to harden with unrepentant sin (Psalm 51:11, Hebrews 3:6,14 & 6:4-6, Revelation 3:5, James 5:19,20, Romans 11:21,22; Mark 4:17-19). It’s therefore imperative that you ……….

  1. join a true fellowship (ie. one that obeys God’s laws) that will encourage you to grow closer to Jesus (Heb.10:25).
  2. read God’s Word (the bible) regularly, so that it feeds your spirit & helps you to hold to the truth.
  3. provided you are not hiding known sin in your heart, talk with God as your best friend.
  4. expect a constant fight and struggle as satan tries to discourage you and tempt you to sin (1 P.5:8,9).
  5. when you know you’ve broken a law, don’t hold onto guilt and run away. Apologise and repent, even if it’s several times a day … God loves you (1 John 1:9).
  6. find out how to find rest in God so that you can eventually let Him do the fighting for you.

Q. How do you get your heart in line with God’s heart?

A. 1st , you have to see yourself as a sinner cleansed by Jesus’ blood alone.
2nd , you have to desire God’s heart, and be willing to pay the price of dying to your own wants.
3rd , never say in your heart ‘you won’t tell me what to do’. It hardens your heart.
4th , when you begin to follow His laws, the Lord will soften your heart to see the Spirit of His Law.

‘If you submit to My LAWS, the Lord thy God will CIRCUMCISE (soften) your HEART, and the heart of your seed, to love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that you may LIVE. And the Lord will put these curses on your enemies and those that persecute you. And the Lord will make you plenteous in every work of your hand.’ (Deut.30)

Q. Are there other additional laws besides these 10 commandments?

A. God’s ten commandments (Exodus 20 & Deut.5) encompass all of His laws. However, there are supplementary moral & civil laws which help qualify the 10 spiritual laws.
NOTE !! Jesus is the substitute for the Water & the Blood (1J.5:8); that’s why the sacrifice, circumcision & purification laws still apply, but have been replaced by communion, repentance, confession, the Word & baptism (1 J.1:7,9; Heb.9:10; Eph.5:26; 1Cor.11:29; Acts 22:16).

Q. What’s “the Law of the Spirit”?

A. When you use the letter of the LAW as your guide, but are led by the heart of God’s Spirit within you ie. you die to your own wants and wishes.

= Living by the “SPIRIT OF THE LAW” Rom.7: 6
= our GUIDELINES for HOLINESS Rom.3: 20
= The only true pathway to FREEDOM & LIFE
= The LAW written in our HEARTS. Hebs.8: 10
= The TRUTH = JESUS = LIBERTY Ps.119:45,142; John 14:6

‘For I delight in the LAW OF GOD after the INWARD man (ie. in my heart).’ Romans 7: 22

Q. What’s “the Law of sin and death”?

A. When the LAW is disobeyed, or ignored, or practiced out of blind duty.

= Living by the “LETTER OF THE LAW” Rom.7:6

When I walk in the ‘flesh’ I honour the ‘law of sin’ (Romans 8:1).

‘… So then with the MIND and HEART I myself serve the “LAW OF GOD”; but with the FLESH the “LAW OF SIN”.’ Romans 7:25 (AMP)

Q. But, isn’t the law the old covenant?

A. NO !! The Old Covenant was an agreement between God and Abraham. It was instigated by Abraham’s FAITH and sealed by the blood of circumcision (Gen.17 & Gal.3: 6). The LAW was written down 430 years later (Gal.3:17) when God re-confirmed the Covenant with the Israelites, via Moses. The covenant agreement was that if they would walk in holiness (ie. separate themselves unto the Lord and be obedient to His laws), He would be their God and He would bless them; otherwise, disobedience would bring CURSES upon them and their children. The laws are the conditions of the contract, ie. the LAWS are the guidelines for keeping that agreement of holiness. The New Covenant requires the same degree of holiness (1 Peter 1:15) from a heart of love. The New Covenant was instigated by Jesus’ FAITH and sealed by His PRECIOUS BLOOD. It has better promises than the Old Covenant (Heb.8:6), and supersedes the Old Covenant, but not the LAW, nor the agreement. The truth is, the law existed with God from the beginning, before the covenant existed (see Gen.26:5) and will live with Him throughout eternity (Rev.11:19; Isa.2:3; Micah 4:2; Ez.26:26; Heb.10:16).

Q. But, what about where Jesus said, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.’ Mark 2: 27

A. Jesus is simply saying ‘don’t live by rules, live by love.’ He’s not saying don’t honour My day. He’s saying, ‘My rules are not to bind you to religious tradition, but they are still my rules … they are guidelines for life …, follow them and live (Matt.23:3,23).’

Q. But, what about where God said, ‘Don’t let anyone judge you with regard to what you eat, drink, or what you do on the Sabbath?’ Colossians 2: 16

A. God is saying …. it’s not the ACTION that counts, it’s the MOTIVE of your heart! Therefore, no one has the right to judge you, because only God knows the heart (Matt.12:1- 12). But, this does not negate the other side of the truth, viz…. ‘If you love Me, keep My laws’ (John 14:15), and, ‘it’s a sin to cause an offence or be a stumbling-block to your neighbour.’ Romans 14:21; 1 Cor.10:31-33

Q. But what about where Paul said, ‘one man esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.’ Rom.14:5,6

A. Romans 14 is a chapter on judging others. Paul is saying, you are responsible to know your own mind. You do not have the right to pass condemning judgment on what anyone else is doing (v10), because you do not know their real motive, & also no one is guilty if they are ignorant (Lev.4,5; Ja.4:17; 1 T.1:13). God will judge each person according to their own conscience (v12). But this does not negate the other side of the truth, that the more you understand God’s heart, the greater your responsibility to not compromise His laws (Matt.25:14-30), & also that ignorance doesn’t save you from being exposed to the curse of the law (Lev.5:17; Hosea 4:6). Greater insight to His Truth gives greater freedom, but also carries greater responsibilities (talents, Matt.25:14-30).

Q. But, aren’t we under grace?

GRACE = God’s mercy & favour towards us as undeserving sinners. However, God’s Grace does not ignore or condone our sin.

A. God’s grace has operated from the beginning of time. This is not a new phenomenon for the modern church. His grace extends over the whole world, not just the church, but the church is responsible for the extent of His grace over this nation (eg. Sodom & Gomorrah ran out of grace). His grace is a delay of judgment to give us sinners time to repent (Isa.30:18).

Grace is only given to the humble (ie. those who submit to His will, and obey His laws out of love for their God). God resists the proud (1 Peter 5:5). Similarly, grace is only activated by faith (Eph.2:8,9) & faith only works through humility (James 2:17,24; Gal.5:6).

Being under GRACE = having taken an inner look to see our sinfulness (eg. publican, Luke 18:9-14), & helplessness (Heb.4:16; 2 Cor.12:9), we call out to God for His mercy. God then enters our spirit & begins to soften our heart (Deut.30:6; Ezek.36:26,27) via suffering (1 P.5:10), to be led of the Spirit (Gal.5:18) who draws us to the Truth of His law (Ps.119:142), so that we have victory over sin (Rom.6:14) & produce His perfect fruit (Gal.5:22).

The modern church operates under cheap false grace !

Q. Why keep the Law if we’re going to heaven anyhow?

A.      1. To demonstrate our LOVE for Jesus.

‘If you LOVE Me, KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS.’ John 14: 15,21

2. That we might keep ourselves on the path to heaven & not lose our salvation (Psalm 51:11, Romans 11:21,22, Rev.3:5).

‘Blessed are they that DO His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of LIFE, and may enter in through the gates into the city.’ Rev.22:14; Mt.19:17

3. That we might learn true WISDOM, Guidance & Discernment (2Thes.2:9, Deut.13:1,2).

4. That we might be an EXAMPLE to other nations.

5. That we might SAVE our children.

6. To be a priest unto God & remit others’ sins (Hosea 4:6, John 20:23)

‘Keep and do my LAWS; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations.’ Deut.4: 6
‘My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected My knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no priest to Me: seeing you have forgotten the LAW of your God, I will also forget your children.’  Hosea 4: 6

7. That we might earn the right to FIGHT in the final battle.

‘The dragon was wrath with the woman (Jewish race), and went to make war with the remnant of her seed (Christians), which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.’ Rev.12:17; & 14: 12

8. For the sake of our nation so that the previously defiled land does not spew us out also (Lev.18:24-30).

9. That we might walk in true FREEDOM from satan’s control and have whatsoever we ask for. (1 John 3: 21,22)

‘Great “PEACE” have they which love Thy LAW, and nothing shall offend them.’ Psalm 119: 165

10. To avoid the CURSE (Deut.27 & 28; & Gal.3: 13).

11. To give satan no foothold, & therefore render his tactics void (1J.5:18, Job 1:10).

12. To lift high His banner for His name’s sake Psalm 23:3.

13. To have AUTHORITY over the enemy on earth, Now, & RANKING in His Heavenly Kingdom. (Rev.22:12)

14. The Law is actually the pathway to LIBERTY (Ps.119:45; James 1:25 & 2:12).

15. To have His STRENGTH, LONG LIFE, & HEALTH Deut.11:8,9; Exodus 15:26

16. To allow God to circumcise our hearts Dt.30

17. That we might walk in His VISIONS & not be swayed by our own imaginations. Jer.16:12 & 23:16

18. That we might learn to be God-conscious & then truly people-conscious, instead of self-conscious.

19. That we might avoid confusion & be single-minded (Dan.9).

20. To protect us from ourselves.

21. That we might be confident to trust His voice in us and not be swayed by others’ opinions.

22. To commune with the Father & not just have a technical relationship.

23. To learn to wait for His timing, humility, true love & the fear of the Lord (Ps.111,112).

24. There is no other way to measure your sin. 1John 3:4
