= profaning His Holy name, or,
= using His Name without His Authority

  • Disrespect of authority 1Tim.6:1, & husband Tit.2;5
  • Saying you walk in the law of God, but actually contradict it Jer.8:8
  • Acting as a Christian, but your heart is self-centred
  • Faith without true works Ja.2:20
  • Doing things against His commandments Prov.3:30
  • Intermingling with the heathen Ez.36:20

Do not profane (blaspheme) the name of God (Lev.24:15,16), & do not falsely profess that a vision or dream is from God (Ezekiel 13:7,8), & do not use His Name without His authority (Jer.5:2) = false prophets (Ez.22:28).

‘You shall not swear by My Name FALSELY, neither shall you profane the name of your God.’ Lev.19:12

‘This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: for everyone that steals shall be cut off, and everyone that swears shall be cut off. I will bring it forth, says the Lord of Hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that SWEARS FALSELY BY MY NAME.’ Zechariah 5:3,4

Whenever we attempt our plans for God, or use God’s Name to achieve something (eg. attempting to bind & loose demons, healing, praying, prophesying, positive confession, ‘naming & claiming’), without having first been bothered to honour His commandments, nor humble ourselves of our pride, nor wait for His clear instructions [eg. Jesus didn’t cast Satan out of Judas]; our attempts are simply empty & void rhetoric. Unfortunately, most people, including those who call themselves ‘Christian’, are not even aware of their pride, because they are too self-defensive and too busy to take an honest evaluation of their fruit.

‘Let us search and try our ways, & turn again to the Lord.’ Lam.3:40; Prov.14:8

  • Our self-fruit becomes evident when we don’t get what we want.
  • Whenever we become casual with sin, we become casual with God & lose respect for His position as king, then vainly quote His name.
  • When we sin we allow His Name to be taken in vain by his enemies 2Sam.12:14

RULE 2 … Never get too familiar with God. FAMILIARITY breeds unappreciation & disrespect (eg. referring to God as “JC”) which breeds contempt !

‘The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold the truth in unrighteousness.’ Romans 1:18
