The selfishness of the church has twisted the meaning of liberty. Liberty does not mean being free from the law to do what makes sense to me. Liberty means freedom through honouring the law & freedom from bondage by doing God’s will, not mine, and it only operates when a person’s heart is surrendered to the spirit of the royal law.

When you have a shallow regard for God’s laws you block your conscience on sin. If you believe you’re not sinning, then you can do what ‘feels’ good without fear of the repercussions.

The whole truth is, you’re only free from the law when, in love, you humbly submit to its guidelines.

The whole truth is … we don’t access heaven by being good (Eph.2:8,9), it’s simply by believing (John 3:16), and repenting (1 John 1:9, Luke 13:3). The door to heaven is through Jesus (John 14:6), not our goodness. When we ask Jesus to wash us from our sin, we are set free from the eternal judgment of HELL (Rom.6:23) because Jesus Himself paid the penalty for our sins for us, with His own blood; but, in response to His love for us, we love Him by honouring His commandments (John 14:15), so that we do not fall to the power of sin that is still present on this earth. We have been saved from the eternal bondage & punishment of sin, but NOT from the presence of sin; nor are we free from sin’s power & daily bondage and punishment, unless we walk heart-to-heart with Him in His LAWS.
